I dreamt once in fairytale land,
A princess with pearly complexion,
And a crown of raven curls.

I never saw one more like you,
The day your onyx eyes shined my way.
But you taught me fairytales are all imperfect:

Beneath every radiant smile, was a despairing frown.
Beneath every beautiful face, was one betraying loss.
Beneath every pair of innocent midnight eyes, was one brimming of silent wrongs.

That crystal on that silver chain,
Was forged from a piece of jewel, cast aside
It turned out prettiest, when you did wear it.

That tiara sitting atop that petite form,
Was made from a piece of pure silver, cut too small,
But it fit you just lovely, upon your head of charm.

You said how no matter how perfect your life could seem,
You couldn’t have everyone happy,
You said the only thing you really wanted was happiness for everyone.

The unknown jewel was found for a reason.
The bit of silver was not cut too small without cause.
They had a reason to be imperfect; they fit and justify one special person.

You were born for a reason.
I was born for a cause.
You could recreate happiness, and me whatever I want.

There is faith and destiny,
There are lies while there exists trust,
And there is love while there is hate.
